Could it be the end of flash memory?

What are the sweetest phrases in the English language? This pizza makes you thinner and more attractive has a good ring to it. But so does, this memory will hold four times as much data as flash currently can and do it 10 times as fast.

But that's what a piece in today's WSJ is discussing. It looks at NAND flash memory, the same type that's in everything from your iPod to your camera and new products being discussed by Unity Semiconductor. And it is Unity that is uttering the truly sweet phrase.

It's a really good piece examining the flaws in NAND that are appearing as we push to smaller architectures.

Sadly the technology is still a couple of years off. And still needs at least one major memory partner.

But, I'm guessing it's a darn sight closer than the slimming pizza.
