The cradle of the semiconductor industy - in the UK

In a fast paced world of technology it can sometimes be useful to stop and remind ourselves of the past. I took a few minutes out of my busy day and read this article entitled: "This is your life: Caswell - the cradle of the semiconductor industry" (flick to page 14)... we "oh so nearly" could have been credited with inventing the integrated circuit and will have to settle for suggesting the idea "back in '52" (apparently we also introduced the term "solid state" to the world).

Jamie Urqhart's comments at the end of the article on the future of innovation are timely - the so called "financial innovation" (a.k.a "grab the money and do a runner") of the shadow banking sector has got us all in a tizzy yet there are signs from within our own sector that we could be bottoming out (psst... don't tell anyone but there are actually a number of good news stories out there) - hopefully the lessons of where real, long-term value can be derived will not be quickly forgotten by those we choose to lead us.

"Respect" to all you pioneers and former-day champions of the electronics industry at Caswell.
