Social Networking for the Microelectronics Industry

The EETimes US site has listed "10 companies in trouble" or, as I prefer to call it... the top 10 to fail before 2010.

AS EETimes puts it,the companies listed are "in particular danger of continuing to spill red ink, being acquired, seeking bankruptcy protection or just not being around in current form a year from now."

The list can be found here. And amongst the names are Freescale, NXP and Renesas. Are these huge names surprising? One person I've spoken to this morning put very succinctly, "a lot of big names with long payrolls".

But it was also surprising for me that Cadence and Magma were both on the list yet Synopsys wasn't. From a personal point of view, I've worked with Synopsys before, it was good to see that this company was doing well. But how has Cadence's problems grown so quickly from such a strong position?
